The Morayo Show Hosts the TASI Thyroid Community to Advance Thyroid Awareness in Nigeria

The Morayo Show partners with TASI Nigeria

At the Thyroid Awareness and Support Initiative (TASI), we have always believed that awareness is the first step toward change. And none of that awareness happens without the people who are willing to use their platforms to amplify what others too often ignore.

That is why the media holds a very special place in our hearts.

Over the years, media platforms across Nigeria have played an extraordinary role in helping us break the silence on thyroid disorders. From television features to radio spots and digital coverage, it is the boldness of these platforms that has helped us reach thousands of Nigerians who had no idea why they were tired all the time, why they were gaining weight despite eating normally, or why they could not get out of bed in the morning. For many of those people, a single media feature changed the course of their health journey.

One of those platforms is The Morayo Show.

A Partnership Built on Purpose

The Morayo Show has earned a reputation for doing something rare in media: it actually listens. It is a program that gives space to meaningful conversations, amplifies voices that deserve to be heard, and consistently champions the wellbeing of women in Nigeria. That is not an accident. That is the personality of its host, Morayo, who has shown again and again that her platform is about more than entertainment.

We experienced that firsthand.

When Morayo was at Your View on TVC, she invited TASI Founder and President, Amb. Iruoma Ofortube, better known as the ThyroidQueen, onto the program on two separate occasions. Each appearance gave us the opportunity to speak openly about what thyroid disorders really look like in Nigerian homes, what patients go through, and why silence has been one of the greatest obstacles to recovery. Those conversations mattered. They moved people. And they are part of why TASI’s voice has continued to grow.

Breaking the Silence: A Special Episode on Thyroid Health

On 24th June 2026, The Morayo Show is bringing the TASI Thyroid Community directly to its audience.

At MAB Studio, the show’s new home, a special episode will air focused on Breaking the Silence on Thyroid Health and Disorders. The episode was originally planned to coincide with International Thyroid Awareness Week, but was rescheduled to allow for broader participation and greater impact. And in many ways, that decision says everything about what this collaboration is about: getting it right, not just getting it done.

The episode will feature real thyroid patients and dedicated advocates sharing their personal stories. These are people who have lived through misdiagnosis, financial strain, stigma, and fear, and who have come out the other side determined to make sure others do not go through the same thing alone.

Providing the clinical perspective will be Dr. Bolanle Okunowo, Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). Dr. Okunowo will offer expert insight on thyroid health, address common misconceptions that continue to hold patients back, and help the public understand what symptoms to watch for and when to seek help.

Why This Collaboration Matters

Thyroid disorders remain one of the most underdiagnosed health conditions in Nigeria. Many patients spend years being told their symptoms are stress, spiritual, or simply in their head. Women in particular are disproportionately affected and disproportionately dismissed. The silence around thyroid health is not just a medical problem. It is a social one.

This is exactly why a platform like The Morayo Show matters so much. When someone sees a person who looks like them, sitting on a screen they trust, talking openly about a condition they have been quietly suffering with, something shifts. Permission is granted. Questions get asked. Doctors get called.

That is the kind of awareness we are fighting for at TASI.

This collaboration with The Morayo Show is an opportunity to reach audiences who may never have attended a TASI event or visited our website. It creates a direct pathway toward early diagnosis, better information, and the kind of community support that changes lives.

Our Gratitude to Morayo

TASI wants to say this plainly: we are deeply grateful.

Morayo’s commitment to this cause has never wavered. From the days at Your View to this new chapter with The Morayo Show, she has consistently chosen to use her influence to shine a light on the people who need it most. That kind of consistency is rare, and it does not go unnoticed by the thousands of thyroid patients and families who make up our community.

To Morayo and her entire team, thank you. You are not just hosting a show. You are helping people find their way to a diagnosis, to treatment, and to hope.

Together, we are giving a voice to those who have been silent for far too long.

Together, we are stronger. Together, we thrive.
